USCCB Staff:

Rev. Michel Marcil, SJ - Executive Director:  was born in Montréal, Québec.  He is an expert in Chinese religious questions.  He served as a missionary in Taiwan from 1966 to 1978.  Back in Canada in 1978, he was the founding Director of Amitié-Chine, he co-founded the Canadian Catholic Roundtable on China, and co-chaired the ecumenical Canada-China Program.  Since 1983, Fr. Marcil has visited China regularly and has been invited to teach at the Sheshan Seminary near Shanghai.  In 1998, he was assigned to work in California as Director of the Inter-Friendship House Association for visiting scholars from China.  He also served as Research Fellow and Program Coordinator at the University of San Francisco Ricci Institute.  He holds an M.A. in Philosophy, an M.A. in Pastoral Philosophy from Université de Montréal and a B.A. in Chinese Language from Fu-jen University in Taiwan.  

Mengpin Hsiao - Administrative Assistant:  started with the Bureau in May 2008 with responsibilities for program and office administration; layout and production of the China Church Quarterly; and maintenance of the USCCB website and database.
